Good morning from the KOA in Little Rock, Arkansas.  The weather is beautiful here.  Right now the temperature is a comfortable 62 degrees.  Last night we slept with the screens open and no air conditioning running.  The night sounds were incredible.

This morning I awoke to my daily alarm.  But, it is not what you think.  At about 5am the birds started chirping!  There were so many of them and they all sound so bright and cheerful.  My sister Barb said once "How do they decide which bird is going to go first?"

The travel yesterday was nice.  Good roads and great weather.  We traveled northwest from the Montgomery Alabama area and then caught I-40 out of Memphis (the FedEx capital!).  Prior to I-40 we were on state roads.  This made it difficult to find someplace to make our picnic lunch.  Usually we rely on highway rest areas for that.  So, we settled for snacks in the van.

As a surprise for the kids we stopped and had a nice early dinner when we got into the Little Rock area.  Claire has been craving Hooters so we stopped there.  Yes, we travel all the way from Tampa to Arkansas and stop at a restaurant that started in our home area (Clearwater)!  They even had fake palm trees with coconuts on them....

Our travel today will take us west to Oklahoma.  We try to keep our driving days to 7 hours or so.

Thanks for reading!

Ray

  1. 'Tis true, we are such a global community, so it isn't rare to find a familiar place hundreds of miles from home. Eric: are the Hooter Girls just a cute as the ones in Tampa??? Probably not as tan. Good job, Ray, on selecting alternate routes that avoided the storms. Elk City tonight - what's your destination for tomorrow? After that, you will be heading into mountainous territory, so we hope the weather treats you kindly. Much love.
