Huron, OH

Tolls - yikes!  Other than a San Francisco bridge toll of $10, we haven't encountered any tolls along this trip.  Then we hit the Indiana & Ohio Interstate system.  Indiana was $11.50 & Ohio was $13.75 for their stretch of I-80.  And, we didn't even go to the end of the Ohio section.  The tolls are higher for us because of the added axle.  An added feature of the high tolls and modern technology is the convenience of using the Discover Card to pay it.  Our cash for the daily bag of ice and gallon of water is intact.

We are in a very nice campground filled with friendly folks that seem to use this place as their summer camp.  A river winds through the campground on both sides creating nice waterside campsites.  We were only staying one night so a site on the land side was fine for us.  Golf carts are the main form of transportation for almost everyone here.  The young kids were even playing golf cart tag.

Eric and I sat at the picnic table in the early evening and were treated to a really nice sunset followed by the sparkling effect of a few fireflies.  Then the western sky looked like an artist's pallet of soft pink and blue pastel colors.  A nice alternative to TV for sure.

It's 5:50am as I write this and the birds are singing their morning song.  The birds didn't start singing until 5am this morning.  On this whole trip so far they have started at 4:30am.  I felt like my alarm didn't go off - LOL!

Headed to Niagara Falls today.

  1. I am just now discovering (duh!) the huge time gap between the times these stories are posted and the time they become available on line. Probably 12 hours or so. And, the email alerts are even more slow... however, this is still the best way to communicate and to get dauly updates at this point in our lives.
I went to Niagara Falls when I was 3 years old, standing up all the way from Detroit, in the backseat of our old Model T Ford, but remember nothing about it, except what my mom told me. Enjoy it for me... Love all of you so much, Mom/ Beema
